Look underneath the exhaust manifold towards the back of the engine. You should see a plug just above the inner driver boot. That's the plug for the final drive. You get the plug out using a ratchet with an extension on it, no socket needed. The head of the plug is square.
Remove the plug and stick your finger in there and see if you can feel oil. If not it is definitely time to add some. Add with a flexible funnel until it runs out of the hole. Don't worry about overfilling. An even better idea would be to go ahead and drain it and all new fluid a few times over the next 1000 miles or so to make sure you get all of the old stuff out. There is a large torx plug underneath the final drive to drain it. I use a large allen wrench and a breaker bar to loosen this plug. An allen wrench will work fine in the plug....you'll have a hard time finding a torx bit that big.
Make sure to replace the fluid with whatever was in there before. Gear oil with gear oil only. If it was gear oil....DON'T use anything else other than gear oil. Gear oil has a very, very strong sulfur smell. If there is motor oil in there you are OK to replace with gear oil or motor oil....preferably motor oil 10W-30.
