I have a 90 900TC and sucessfully rebuilt the cylenders myself. you call them rams.
there is a few o rings in there that need to be replaced and the goop rinsed out. no big deal. getting to them was the work. assuming you have nothing broken you can do it. take it apart as it is apparent and put the cyl on a bench. look at them and you will see the lid screws off. that lid is your fist o ring. then pull the shaft and plunger out of the cylender part and look at the end of the shaft. the plunger has to be removed from the end of the rod so that you can pull the rod thru the cap. look into the cap and there is a seal. pull it, look in again and there is an o ring that you have to get out. this is where my leak was from. I got it out with a dentists tool. took all the old rings, including the ones on the plunger and went to pep boys, bought enough tto do 10 cars!! cost about $3.00.
took some brake spray and cleaned everything, and listen to this. I used marvel mystery oil to fill the system. first I got all the old oil out. the reason I did this is that someone had a thick oil in there and even in the mild fla winter the thing was struggeling. now 3 years later it still works like a charm. I think that next hardest thing is getting them back in with the oil charge with out spiling it all over. if you have the book, which you need, that will tell you the rest. does your pump work? if so your in good luck. have fun or do like any sane person would do..get new cylenders!!!
