Ok folks - total frustration here. Purchased a '94 C900 Vert. car has needed lots of TLC but has been a pretty good car so far. When first bought car six months ago..had intermittant cruise control. Would work sometimes and other times not at all. After about a month..stopped working all together.
First off - all fuses and ground at left tail light are good.
Inital thought was vaccum lines. Unplugged the pump line by the left turn indicator and blew on the line. Hard to blow - and throttle plate moved ever so slightly. Pulled knee dash, and all lines looked great. So, deduction was vaccum lines OK.
Next I thought it might be the ratty looking cruise switch needing replacing. So, bought new switch. Ran continuity and Voltage tests on all the wires both at the ECU and at the switch - no problems, all checked perfect (Used Saab Master and Bentley as guide). Only wiring testing not performed was while car was in motion - to check change in voltage at ECU - don't think this is the issue but didn't check.
Ran battery line straight to pump to test it, and saw throttle plate move no problem - thus pump is good.
Checked that chain from pedal to regulator was attached.
Thus - my last try - the pedal switches. I have NO idea what to do here and could use some help from u folks The car is an automatic and I see the two switches. I have read Bentley back and forth and Saab Master. I have no idea how to check to see if these switches need to be manually adjusted (I did check continuity on the switches - continuity when depressed none while not). Any help you can give. And lastly, if this doesn't work, what else could I possibly try. I don't think the ECU is bad, and other than road testing, how can I tell? Thanks in advance, David
