I have a 92 900TC that had the crank pulley go at about 125k. I tend to think that this is a pretty common failure. The power washing was probably just coincedence. Here are some ways to tell: 1. after tightening the belts, did the noise get louder? 2. one difinitive way to tell if it is the crank pulley or not is to take some white out or other substance that stands out and draw a line across the face of the pulley making sure to get the outer pulley, rubber seperator, and the inner metal part. If after running the car, the lines don't line up anymore, the crank pulley is going as the outside and inside parts aren't turning together and either one or both are slipping around the rubber part. Whatever you do, don't wait too long if it is the pulley as it can get bad and actually chew into the oil pump housing and then that would have to be replaced. as far as needing any special tools, I am not sure what you mean? I think I just put a socket on the nut with a real long extension and twisted it off (it was on there good too!) the townsend website has a great write up along with other stuff you should probably replace while you are in there http://www.townsend.com good luck
