I agree that the cars are quite efficient for their age and weight and I usually get about the same mileage and run about the same speed, mostly highway for my commute. I'm sure there's a sweet spot somewhere in the 70-80mph range where fuel efficiency peaks.
However, living in the N. Virginia area, I always notice a significant drop in mpg during the colder months. In the warmer months I get about 29-30mpg. In the winter just 27-28. You might say this is within the range of human error, but I almost always fill up at the same station, same pump, same gas and I'm consitently getting these numbers every time.
I also get significantly better mileage on mid-grade than hi-test, but then its a 900 S, not a turbo.
