I did this as a kid to a motorcycle and it took off the finish on everything. All the aluminum looked like crap when I was done not to mention the painted parts that were eatin partially thru. Go to the auto store and buy Degreeser for drive ways. The stuff I use comes in a gallon jug and I put it into a spray bottle. Warm the engine and spray it everywhere under the hood. not the fuse box. let it sit and hose it off when the engne cools. do it again and again if you need to. Get a round parts brush and use that where you need to. When your all done driveit around to warm the engin and dry it off. then take an entire can of wd40 or = and spray every electrical connection and moving part. dont forget the battery terminals and grounds. That should do it. You can also lightly coat the motor. it looks great but attracts dust faster. That is what I do oncea year.
