Has anyone had to replace their control valve more than once ? I
have just found the &^%@$ thing leaking badly when turned off. It's much less of a leak when the valve is turned full on. The first one that I installed was in service for less than a year when it went bad leaking through the top end of the valve, so I took it back to the parts place where I bought it and they were good enough to give me a replacement saying that it should not have failed. Now it has happened again. The replacement was the same brand. It has been less than a year since i put in the second one and I am pretty darned unhappy about having to do this project outside in New England winter temps. Do any of you have experience with this issue? Is it the quality of the part ? I was a bit surprised to find that
it was made of moulded plastic.....not cast metal, as were those I had installed in past cars I have owned. Is this an area where you need the genuine Saab part? Are there any other issues that can cause
these things to fail prematurely? The rest of the cooling system is
in great shape, this summer I replaced literally everything except the heater core and the metal pipe that runs across the top of the engine block from back to front. Haven't had any problems with overheating.
I'm at a lose to explain this one.
I really need some help with this project, I don't want to do it again
and worry about it failing.
