IIRC, Mike Stone, a tech who posted here a lot, suggested a procedure for using a grease gun on a popped slave:
Plug the line the hydraulic hose goes into
Grind the bleeder nipple so you can fit it into the end of the grease gun.
The grease is much thicker than brake fluid, so it won't flow through the small wear spots that the brake fluid would go by.

I've tried the hacksaw and sawzall routes with unsatisfactory results(going through many fresh blades in the process). The steel piston is waay harder than the aluminum inner and outer shells.
I did have some decent, if time consuming, success drilling away at the cylinder, bit by bit, until all I had to cut with the saw were a few small bridges between the holes. The caveat there is that you need to clean all of the shavings out very thoroughly.
I also had decent success using a pry bar on the pressure plate. It's nice to have 2 people so there's someone handy to call 911 if the pry bar slips :-)
