I use two small, flat blade screwdrivers. I stick the screwdrivers in at the top and bottom, and carefully 'rock' the switch forward and out. The controller is quite long (2.5 inches at least), and the cable from behind makes for a bit of resistance. You only need to get the switch out about 1/4 inch or so to get a grip on it. As bmathieu says, watch that cable! I usually keep a bit of string around, and loop it around the cable connector before removing the controller.
Why are you removing the controller? Yes, they do break (I had to R&R one just this weekend), but 9 times out of 10 the problem is a break in the heater wire in the seat itself.
