Dave,

I don't know if that "jump fuse 27 to 30" test applies to old 8V cars (like yours and mine). I know it works for 16-valve cars.

You can jumper the fuel pump, for sure, on these 8V engines for testing in this way: pull the fuel pump relay (main fusebox under hood; they are labeled on the fusebox lid) and connect a jumper wire from terminal #30 to #87 in that relay's position.

Or, you could listen for the fuel pump to run: on my '84 900S, the fuel pump runs for a couple seconds when the key is turned to "on" position, before turning the key to "start."

Also, check to see if the fuel pump is getting electricity when the ignition key is in the start position--pump wires are easily accessed under the trunk floorboards. It is the larger of the two covered holes--it's the hole on the left if you're facing the front of the car when standing at the rear bumper. Check for 12 volts at the wire connector (one lead of voltmeter to one pin, other lead to other pin). You'll need a helper to turn the key to "start" when you are back in the trunk with the voltmeter--make sure car is in Park (auto trans.) or Neutral (manual trans.)!!!!

Hope this helps!
