Yes, I'd definitely switch in that climate. Mobil's Delvac 1300 Super 15W-40 meets the cold-temp specs for a 10W oil, so it'll be the closest to what you're currently using. Diesel oils typically start life made from better stuff than gasoline oils, so it'll hold up much better than any conventional gasoline motor oil. The extra additives needed for a diesel engine's environment will clean & protect better in your turbo engine, & meets the same API "SL" rating as gasoline-only oils.

Actually, probably the #1 thing you could do to keep the turbo happy is to use only a premium fully synthetic oil. It's the breaking down of conventional oil which creates most of the crud you're now seeing. Two of the best & easiest to get synthetics are Mobil 1 & Amsoil.

After that, I'd say the next thing to look for is a better resistance to high temperature shearing, which is basically what happens to your oil every time it passes thru the turbo's bearings. In FL, the only thing I'd run is Mobil 1 15W-50. (Although, the new Mobil 1 5W-40 "truck & SUV" oil looks like a good diesel-style option.)

Premium synthetic oils flat-out hold up better than any conventional oil, & will be cleaning & protecting better after 10k miles in your turbo than any conventional oil will after only 2k or 3k miles.

And like 86spg & Alex C said, some kind of cleaner would be beneficial as well. I don't like the quick cleaners, so Alex's suggestion of either Neutra or Auto-Rx would be my choice.
