99% of times when AMM goes bad they lean out fuel mix Posted by SWEDECAR [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Another question about O2 sensor, Macy, Thu, 12 Feb 2004 18:22:20 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
A bad AMM can tell fuel computer to lean out fuel mixture to the point where O2 sensor cannot osccilate between 0.1 and 0.9 Volt.
Many non professional repair shops replace the O2 sensor in those cases thinking that that is the problem, when in fact it's the AMM.
The customer than has to come back later to have the AMM replaced.
A vacuum leak around intake manifold can also generate a flat 0.1 Volt at O2 sensor and be mistaken for a bad O2 sensor.
A leaking diaphragm in fuel pressure regulator on the other hand generates a flat 0.9 Volt. So happens also if wire harness is disconnected from AMM (full rich mixture).
