a car with that sort of mileage probably could use $5,000 of work if you pay a shop to do it, so dont!!! much of it is fairly doable your self. You have just gotten on the road to education and discovery about these cars and this web site is an excellent resource for you.
re motor mounts, put the hood up and sit in the drivers seat and rev the engine. see how much it moves when you do that. it shouldnt move more than an inch or so.
i understand that front motor mounts usually cause shifting problems - are you noticing it more difficult to shift lately?
how are the brakes? accessories all work? suspension - does the car ride noisy or rough? acceleration - lots of power? idling - constant idle or up and down cycling? does exhaust system need attention?
put it up on the hoist, spin the rear wheels and listen for bearing noise, check the ball joints and tie rod ends, any body damage or rust perforations, exhaust system condition, motor or tranny oil leaks, coolant leaks, etc.
keep posting here as your mechanic and you get further into it. 2nd opinions are invaluable.
