One of the first, and easiest thing to do is to "tweak" the APC box. Search APC on the board for lots of discussion on "turning the pots" within the box to increase boost. The next steps are adding a larger fuel pressure regulator (2.8 bar), bigger exhaust. AID (or adjusting yours - its the ufo thingy on the distributor), adjusting the wastegate to proper spec and so on. Spendier items are larger/retrofitted intercoolers, non-restrictive turbo outlet elbow and water injection (a valuable tool against knock which some consider a must-do early upgrade).
Beginning a tranny repair fund is also essential when you begin to mod.
A lot of us just have the low-cost, entry mods (aka modest mods) listed above which increase the pep and fun seat-of-the-pants experience. Good tires and new, or verified good suspension and brakes are other essentials anytime you alter the perf. of a vehicle.
