Hello Folks,
This same message has been posted in the 9K board - but I want to
post it here as well because this guy worked on my 900T also.

I have had my fair share of misadventures with dishonest Saab places
in the past, and have no reluctance to share which have openly done
things like tripled parts prices and/or charged for work that was
not done at all - but this latest one just beats 'em all - ready ?

I had the tranny in my '88 9KT swapped out by Leon at Saab Mecca.
The tranny he put in was a used one provided by the nice guy I got
the car from, months ago, and it was a whole unit from an '86 9KT.
The whole process of getting Leon to do the work took months, and
when he finally brought it in, and did it, I was delighted to get
it back just days later.
Went to get an inspection sticker, and it failed inspection - no
backup lights.
I could not find the switch either - just a dangling connector.

The reason:
No switch - instead, a nice, big bolt with many shiny brass and
copper washers on it, right where the switch USED to be.

Leon neither answers the phone, nor returns my calls.
This was not some random accident - the bolt appearing by 'osmosis';
neither is it accidental that he is unavailable.

I have known for some time that Leon is a self-confessed alcoholic,
BUT, I thought he was still a good mechanic; apparently those days
are gone...
My mistake - hopefully this posting can prevent some other decent
Saab owner from having similar misery.

One other time he broke my washer tank doing a head gasket job,
and explained it away as being an effect of the cold weather...

Be careful folks - there are many hacks masquerading as mechanics,
and there seems to be more than our fair share of real hacks here
in mid-northern Vermont.

Best Wishes,

mark
