It takes some adapting to use, though. I found that I simply learned to reach for the key and the e-brake in a different way, and it's totally unconscious for me. Others, however, often curse and complain about it.
The technique is that I slide my hand into the well from the driver's side instead of reaching right down to grab the key or e-brake handle.
As for the armrest, it may be one of the most useful additions to my Saab. The cupholder is great for one cup, but holding two cups or cans, you can't really use 4th gear at all, and 2nd is difficult. But 1st, 3rd, and 5th are all fine!
Overall, though, I highly recommend it, especially in a car you use for commuting if you bring coffee, etc with you.
