Last weekend I removed the factory air cleaner and installed a K&N power filter. In the process I removed the Air Mass Meter in order to put the K&N filter on it. I was very careful with it when I did this.

I did not grind the little tab on the AMM down, though. I drove the car for about 5 miles and it drove great. This is not my daily driver. Since the weather is nice today I wanted to take it to work. After driving about half a mile the engine started hesitating and it would stall at idle so I brought it home and jumped in my daily driver to get to the office.

Is it possible I hurt my AMM when I had it out of the car? Like I said I was very gentle with it. Do I need to grind that little tab down so there is a good seal between the K&N filter and the AMM?

Any advice would be most appreciated. Thanks. Car is an '87 900 turbo convertible.
