first stage: momentary loss of power when travelling at speed.
next stage: buzzing in one or both fuel/system relays located on top of L/H control(jetronic) unit when ignition activated. The starter would engage but engine wouldn't start.
Over several days, the systems were checked using BENTLEY, the only obvious discrepancy being the lack of an earth trigger for the fuel pump when engine cranked. Overcome by bypassing the Jetronic unit using a separate relay. This SEEMED to fix the problem.
Now though, the dying or not starting has returned. The check engine light dims or fluctuates which signifies that the car will not start. The buzzing relay problem has not returned. I sent the ECU to a repairer(there are none local) but has recieved a clean bill of health. While in the capitol picking up the unit, i saw another saab repairer who opined that the systems attached to the check engine light would cause a complete failure, and not this intermittent type (assuming the Jetronic unit is OK). He did suggest that if an aftermarket immobiliser has been fitted it can cause similar operating problems. On return home, the L/H unit was installed, the imobiliser removed, and original wiring reinstated. Car ran beautifully on test but failed again on restart. Engine light flickered and engine wouldn't start. I'm hoping someone out there has had similar problems and maybe a solution. Any help appreciated.
