Yesterday while I was changing the distributor cap and rotor on my 88 900TC, I noticed a wire attached to the side of the distributor. On mine, there was only the remnants of the wire - it had apparantly broken off long ago. Looked at my son's engine to see where this was supposed to go and traced it to a small cyclinder-shaped item attached to the top of the coil - kind of looked like a condensor. Went back to my car and sure enough, there is the other end of the broken wire coming from the end of this cyclinder-shaped item.
Can anyone help me identify this cyclinder-shaped item? Looked through my Bentley but couldn't find any mention of it. What is it for and what's the impact of not having this wire (which looks like maybe a ground wire) connected?
Thanks,
Dave
