Not sure what exactly you're seeing with the plug thingy. However, let's get back to the passenger seat bun warmer...
First, remember, the bun warmer is activated only upon two conditions being satisfied 1. there's a bun to be warmed and 2. it's cold enough in the car to merit needing warm buns. Condition 1 in my '88 SPG was addressed by disconnecting the tension cable switch under the seat. Condition 2 was addressed by removing the leather on the butt portion of the seat cushion (this was the hardest part of the whole project) and replacing the thermostat with a jumper. I then installed a lighted on/off switch into the side of the seat using the wiring from the tension cable switch so that the passenger could control their bun warming destiny. I put the switch on the console side of the seat (as opposed to the door part of the seat) in order to ensure that I could see whether the seat heater was on. Granted the pass. seat is on or off only, not adjustable like the driver's seat. I am okay with that.
Hope this helps.
