Technical questions about OEM analog gauges Posted by Saabpilot [Email] ![]() ![]() |
I have the 3 analog gauge package in my '87 900T convertible - oil pressure, volts and outside temperature. I recently posted a question about possible replacements and I think the VDO "vision" series are a good candidate.
I have a few questions and was wondering if someone could help me out.
First is my outside temperature gauge. It is horribly inaccurate and as I drive I can watch it swing sometimes 20 degrees back and forth. Is there a way to test this to see if indeed it is the gauge or the sensor that is defective? Any ideas of where the sensor might be located?
On the oil pressure gauge, mine goes up to 150psi. Can I replace this with one that goes to a lower psi using the same sensor, or do I have to change out the sensor, too? Anyone know where it would be located?
The volt meter sounds like a no brainer, nothing to change out.
Thanks.
