suv bumper dent in trunk lid!

So I parallel parked and came back to my car to find a 16" long, 3" wide dent in the back lid above the tail light. It crushed the relay for my 3rd brake light but I've fixed that.
My problem is that when I look at it it drives me crazy. I've got an 88 base with a N/A 8-valve, so it's not the most sought-after model, but it was just about looking mint. The red paint still shines up real nice and I was getting ready to replace the chrome trim around the back window and windshield...
Anybody have an idea how much it would cost to fix such a dent? I know there's a huge range in prices out there and I'd have to stay on the cheap side. Is it possible to bang out a dent and not absolutely need repainting? I know it won't just pop back out- I tried when getting the relay out, and I don't have the skills to do it. The car looks great to me (maybe me alone), and only has 105k, but I can't afford to spend its value in body work.
Thanks for any opinions!
