I have an 85...900T with 265K on it....one of the best years IMHO. BUT...
1. Engine compartment wiring IS an issue but DIY repairable.
2. Oil cooled turbos are fine as long as left to idle/cool down for 30 secs before switch off...mine is original.
3. Brakes/shafts/wheels are older type...handbrake on front...I personally dont really care...it's all upgradable later on from a donor car if you want.
4. Front fascia looks GREAT with euro lamps AND a nice set of spots on the rubber bumper. Updated lamps have weaker light output. Those rubber bumpers are waaaaaaaaay better than the shit they used on the 88 on 'facelifted' car, you will never have to paint/change them unless you hit something hard.
5. Nope...no aero wheels will fit unless you update the hubs etc etc...but a nice set of pre 88 spg rims set the car off nicely and are still not too rare.
6. 85 had a 1 year only cylinder head, but later heads fit fine. Also the APC system is unique to 85 and I think 86...the control unit is under the back seat, not on the inside fender...still tweakable though...and other easy upgrades like K&N/hotter injectors/3.0 bar FPR can all be used.
Watch for RUST esp in the doors and the driveshaft apertures at the front...this applies to all 900s.
Hope you get it!
Pete
