Hey All. I posted on this around Christmas, but here we go again...
I've an 88 900 16V with an 89 motor (no Hall Effect Sensor) that cuts out in wet weather. At first it will lose power then barely hold an idle: it'll run but dies as soon as I give it any gas. In the past I could count on spraying anything ignition-related (coil, wires, etc.) with WD-40 and within minutes it would run fine and trouble-free. I've replaced the plugs, wires, cap and rotor and thought earlier on it was the Hall sensor, but again the motor is an 89 (crank sensor). I should add the car has done this since I've owned it (5+ years) with 2 motors-an 88 and 89- so I'm asssuming it's something external to the motor.
During it's last fit the cabin filled with smoke which seemed to be coming from the passenger's footwell area-a new development. Kind of smelled like burning carpet but no sign of fire. The car is still on the road, but I can count on it cutting out in any inclement or humid weather.
As always, any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
