Talk about a bad break.

It won't cause any additional stress on the lower A-arm (which you should check for cracks, anyway) but it could camage the upper A-Arm, it's mounts, or the lower part of the opening if you get a lot of uncontrolled bouncing that makes the upper A-Arm bottom out.

You can drive it for a little while, but you'll want to be really careful about the driving situations you get yourself into, because the handling will be more unpredictable with one corner undamped. If you do drive it, you may want to remove the shock and protect the threads on the bottom mount so it doesn't chew up the inner fender around the upper shock mount.

I had to drive for around 150 miles with a loose shock like that when the upper washer rusted through and the bolt broke through.

How long before your new shocks get delivered (and do you have a warm, dry place to work?)

PS, be careful with the threads on the lower shock mount. Soak it as many times as you can with a penetrant like PB blaster.
