'85 900T 16v 5spd 4dr, 128k

previously - bad vibration on acceleration, worse around corners and on hills. took my passenger side drive axle off and the tripod was in many little pieces.

the drive axle was under warranty by advance auto, so i got the new one today and threw it on (after picking all the tripod pieces out of the inner driver cup and wiping the old grease out of it). i used high-temp CV grease. i decided to cross my fingers and hope that MS's advice concerning my last post was true.

and it looks like it was. there's ZERO vibration, it feels better than it ever has, even when i'm closing down on the redline. i'm going to keep my fingers crossed for another month or two.

that was my passenger side. now here's another question concerning the driver side.

last week i swapped the driver side drive axle from my parts car ('85 900S) to my car. on closer inspection, my car has the newer set up -- larger tripods/cups. the parts car doesn't. which means that i put a small tripod drive axle into a large cup inner driver.

but it feels fine. i even double checked -- the inner driver cup on my driver side has the 2 ridges on the outside, not the 3 that would mean it's a small cup. so..why does it feel fine? i have another driver side drive axle coming from advance auto to throw on my car (for some reason they ship larger tripod drive axles for my '85, when i didn't think the change to the larger ones was made until '86?). do i need to put it on immediately, even though it feels great?

thanks for the help, guys.
