Check out the one on your parts car. Sitting that long you might want to exercise it. Spin the steering back & forth lock-to-lock a few times to get the rack grease moving. You'll have to spin it back & forth by hand while you're taking it out, so you'll want to loosen it up BEFORE you disconnect the steering column...
I think(?) the wrench sizes in that book were incorrect for the hose fittings. No worries for me, I just crawled out from underneath & reached in the toolbox. Got a complete collection of sizes??
I found I had better room to work by taking off the headpipe. It's not necessary, but it gives you more room.
When you feed it out/in thru the inner fender holes, it helps if you have 2 people. One underneath, holding the rack. One over at the right wheelhousing, guiding it so you don't tear the rack boot.
Someone already said... get it up HIGH on the jackstands.
