After the 16V T implant into my 82, there is definitely a noticable HP improvement across the entire MPH range. Not huge, but noticable. 135 to 160 HP has to be noticable. The one situation I'm most happy with is the entrance and exit ramps on freeways. Here in LA, a lot of people are basically nuts, with a lot of self-centered egos driving around in their "tweener" cars. Tweener means between economy and sport. A lot of 1.8 liter engines whining away on the freeways. A lot of tweener drivers badly want to be driving the more expensive sport models, but their current job status as assistant producer on the WB network keeps them at arms length away. Tweener drivers love to drive fast, especially in the freeway entrance and exit lane, knowing full well there's always cars coming and going to and from that lane. See, I drive at the upper range of the speed limit for the most part, traffic permitting, yet when I'm about to pull over into an exit lane, sure enough, here comes a tweener car coming up fast, pretending he/she doesn't see my turn signal, effectively blocking my way. Same thing happens when pulling on the freeway, where tweeners often come up fast and keep me from accelerating onto the freeway. By contrast, I allow drivers a spot in front of me in those situations. Point to this story is that with my previous 8VT engine, sometimes I could accelerate in front of the tweener car, but a lot of the time I just wasn't fast enough. But now with the additional HP from the 16V engine, I find I can out accelerate the tweener cars more often than not in those situations. Then once I'm in front of them, I slow back down to normal speed for that lane. Tweener drivers hate that.
