Recent replacement 5 speed fitted (60k) to 215k 900t16 '92. Less then 2k into my replacement and 2nd gear was unobtainable from 3rd, but fine from 1st. couple of days later, no 2nd whatsoever. Adjusted coupling a smidge, and it was perfect for about 3 hours! Then back to no second at all. Couple of days later, no 1st either. 3rd, 4th, 5th, R all good, no grinding etc... The lever will get 4th where there should be 2nd, and seams a little on the floppy side. Checked the 3 torx bolts that hold down the lever, the clamp on the shifter, and the tapered pin. How do i check the rubber coupler-what are the tolerances? Also i have read here that there is a rubber something that controls the sideways movement of the coupler assembly-wherte excactly is it and how do i replace it if necessary? Please help- i really don't want another trannie job- i can't afford it.
PS. The guy who put the trannie in said there are receipts showing a rebuild 8 months ago- i am inclined to believe him but i can't take the car to him- he is 300 miles away! HELP!!!!!
