I just got a new battery for a classic turbo. This is the first SAAB branded one I have fitted. Before this I used a Varta battery which was specially made to be narrow so that it fitted in front of the turbo unit and left some room for the heat shield. I called Varta who said they stopped making this battery.

So I got an official SAAB one from my local dealer, who said that it was specially made. But though it's narrower than a regular battery, the heat shield still doesn't sit right, and more importantly the terminals are at the engine side meaning that the heat sheild can touch both the terminals and short, unless I put some insulation rubber in there.

Does this sound right? Did they sell me the right one?

Any dealers out there know what I'm talking about? There are lots of Clasic T's around, surely they can make a battery that will actually fit properly?
