Info I found in the manuals for various years........

for 87 models years
Maximum trailer weight, with trailer brakes is 3300lbs
without trailer brakes it's 1000lbs
No info found for tongue weights in the books.

81-86 models
max trailer weight, with trailer brakes is 2000lbs
without trailer brakes is 1000lbs

79-80 models
lists max trailer weight at 3300lbs

In the 79-83 Accessories manual it has a section about trailer hitches for 81-83 models with some info...
max trailer weight without brakes 1000lbs
tongue weight: 200lbs(with brakes)
tongue weight: 100lbs(without brakes)

It also says rear springs should be reinforced when a trailer hitch is installed, by mounting pneumatic auxilliary springs or stiffer shock absorbers.
