There's no clamp inside the differential housing. If removing the i.d.'s one side at a time, the driver will pull out easily, perhaps using a soft mallet hammer to free the seal. Be careful with the spring and plunger when reinstalling the complete assembly. Use a bit of heavy grease to keep the plunger in place. To access those hard to reach 12 mm bolt heads, I used a flex coupling with two long extensions that reached out to the inner wheel well. They're locked in there good, so I also used a breaker bar for the initial twist. The shims must remain exactly as they are. You'll find that they can only be positioned one way in order to mate with the bolt holes. Clean them thoroughly and use steel wool if necessary to remove any grime or rust buildup on those shims. Make sure they're clean and lightly lubricated on their inside surfaces. For an absolute leak free seal I used a thin coating of silicone sealant on the mating surfaces before reinstalling. Be sure to clean the mating surfaces on the differential housing as well.
