Just purchased an 88 900 S, in good shape except fora fast idle. It never goes below 1000, and has a hunting pattern when warm, ranging from 1800 to 2000, but never above that. It doesn't do the up and near stall when cold.
I've gone through th vacuum hoses, changed the O2 sensor, tested and cleaned the AIC and inner throttle body.
It has a KN air filter, and I disconnected the boot from the throttle body. When I sealed the intake with my palm, the idle eventually (30 sec.) returned to 850 (although a little rough).
Any opinions? My guess is that it's either the throttle switch, the AMM, or the boot (which looks ok). Are ther any problems with the KN filter?
