Beginners question on radiator change

Thanks to this board I have a lot of work on my 900s. Currently, I'm in the middle of replacing the radiator on my 91 900NA. Since I had it out yesterday, I replaced the front motor mount too. That went without too much trouble. Now I have both radiators laying flat on the ground and am trying to transfer all the harware. The fans are attached on the old one with little screws that have a fairly fine thread. The new one has a lot more little holes on the attachment area but they are smaller and not threaded. I can drill them out a little and tap them but the metal seems to be thinner so I don't know if I would get enough tread in there to give grip to the screws. Or should I just get some self-tapping sheet metal screws? The radiator is a Nissens brand that I got from Sobstory as a replacement for OEM.
Thanks, Harold
