AIC doesn't shut all the way...

While cleaning the AIC this morning, I noticed the valve doesn't shut all the way, leaving a little gap, about 1 mm.
I'm wondering if it is supposed to be or if its an indication the recall spring is a little tired and doesn't do its job properly.
The idle is usually a bit on the high side (900-950 rpm) but pretty stable.
So I wasn't ready to replace it, but now I'm wondering...
Anybody ??
