Chad,
The work they did was ~$280, list below (found from an old email),
charge work
33.50 Pressure Test Casting
33.50 Mill Head
56.00 Disassemble, clean and bleed lash adjusters
80.00 disassemble clean and inspect head. Check valves and reassemble w/ new seals.
12.50 R&R gauer rings
60.00 R&R cams
He referred to it as a "poor man's valve job" - there was something he didn't do that would have added $100 - it involved a vacuum test.
I havn't done a thing with LPT - no donor car obtained yet. I've never seen a turbo on a saab at Rosemount. You're certainly correct about Andrew's pricing - they seem far to expensive to me (although thir rebuilt transmission was surprisingly reasonable at $800). I'm a little nervous about going into a high-torque project when the shifter in my car still feels fuct-up. the 1-2 shift is absolutely terrible. Jerry did the initial alignment and I bought the special tool and the alignment seems spot-on. Never the less it is still very clunky and I don't want to replace the transmission again. At present I'm wondering if the flywheel had too much milled off when I had it resurfaced (during trans replacement). Poor clutch engagement is the only thing I havn't been able to test (assuming of couse that I didn't get a bum rebuild from Andrews in the first place). Jerry suggested Napa in St. Louis Park, but my brother-in-law had already taken a pair to the Bloomington shop.
Also need to replace shocks, bushings, and tie rod ends before trusting the car with that much power.
All that said, I'll probably never get around to it.
best regards Chad - Headwerks was really an impressive place - their cleanliness was simply unbelievable.
Nathan
