In 1999, my Saab 900 spilled its coolant along Highway 58 one hot July afternoon and died a wretched death (temp guage was out). I really loved that car, but kept finding other things to drive instead of Saabs. My Corrado sure was a blast, and that Mazda sure was practical. Our QX4 sure is reliable.

But after a 5 year hiatus I finally got back into the Saab family. I was actually looking for a 900 convertible when I stumbled across an '89 SPG in just tremendous condition (115K and really well maintained) for $2200. Needless to say I'm very happy and look forward to rolling this thing over the 200K mark in about 6 years or so.

I'm going to drive the hell out of it.

The only problem . . . the woman I bought it from was a really sparkly person who wanted her car to be sparkly too. So she re-painted it gray with about a bazillion little silver sparkles in it -- the WHOLE car from bumper to bumper. I'm sure you know the kind of paint I'm talking about. It's hideous IMO and has no place on an SPG.

Anyway, I need help with two things.

1) If anyone has a good high-resolution pic of a gray SPG showing the difference in color between the car and the lower body panels could you please email it to maxhoffa*AT*aol.com? I want to get back to the original color scheme as closely as possible.

2) Can anyone recomend a *reasonable* paint shop in the eastern LA county area (somewhere between San Bernardino and Covina ideally)? I won't need any body work at all, there's not even a door ding to be filled in this car, just a spray. Something between "Earl Schieb" and a $1000 shoot is what I'm looking for.

If you can help with either, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks.
