I had one 900 which would do that after sitting for over a week, and even my '89 SPG will do it after a week or so. I usually pull the fuel pump fuse and crank it a few times to get the oil circulating, then put the fuse back in - then it runs quietly.
You probably won't have any similar problems in day-to-day use.
Have you had the oiler tube O-rings taken care of?
