Ken covered the canister. re vacuum reservoir Posted by Saabu [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Vacuum Testing --- Need lots of help w/3 vac hoses (??), Taylor, Wed, 23 Jun 2004 16:49:36 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
sounds like you have a problem with the check valve. you can apparently install another one on the line which will serve the same purpose, and that's alot easier than trying to replace the one on the canister!
while you are at it, check the hooter valve on your car. does it hold vacuum? when pressure is applied does it hold pressure?
if it doesnt hold vacuum, its shot and will cause minor driveability problems like hooting when in boost, and idle problems, typically higher idle, and engine stalling on decel. there are lots of posts on this topic in the archives.
The fuel pressure regulator vacuum line should also hold vacuum. also, disconnecting this line should cause the car to speed up idle speed as the lack of vacuum causes a more rich mixture into the engine.
and check the breather line from the valve cover to the intake manifold. the check valve should allow suction but prevent blowing air into the line and thus valve cover.
Finally, the line from the vacuum advance should also hold vacuum. if it doesnt , the diaphram inside is shot. and even if it holds vacuum, the mechanism inside may be seized so take the distributor cap off and look inside the distributor while applying vacuum. you should see the mechanism moving.
good luck and let us know what works and doesnt
