'88 Saab 900 Turbo Convertible

A few months ago my front tires started squealing around long arching corners when they didn't before. My mechanic discovered my ball joints needed replacing - all of them. So I had all four done upfront. It improved. Last weekend I readjusted the air pressure in my tires and now it's quite good. However they still squeal around some arching corners at speed. I will note, my steering rack could probably use replacement, but I'm not willing to shell out the money for it and it really hasn't bothered me in over a year (used to stiffen up in the winter). Before I pretty much never heard this squealing. My mechanic kept assuring my tires were good previously. However, when I was checking/filling the tires last weekend, I noticed some cracking where the tire's sidewall meets the tread on my passenger side front tire. I also noticed that the outsides of the front tires seem more worn than the insides and stepping back it really looks like the wheels are perhaps over cambered in the front. The back tires seem fine, however the right rear leaks air pretty rapidly. It will go from 35psi to 15psi in 2 weeks or about 600 miles.

So, I'm not due for a trip to the mechanic for about 1500 miles (oil change, and new front engine mount). I figure I should get these tires changed out soon to avoid a blowout. That cracking can't be good. I'd like to think I should just keep the rear tires, but I've had the car for 30k+ miles and haven't changed out the tires. They were good when I got it, but the cracking makes me wonder how old they are so I figure I should just take care of all four and not have to worry. Anyway, I have been looking at the Kumho Ecsta HP4 716 and BFGoodrich Traction T/A tires on tirerack.com. Seems the BFG's are top rated for what I'm looking for, but are $17/each more than the Kumhos wich rank pretty well. Anyone have experiences with both? Money is a factor. The Kumhos are only $40/each while the BFG are $57/each on tirerack. I want to know if the slight difference in rating is worth the money.
