well, money saved on the car payments can be used towards repairs you have to do or pay for mechanic if you need to farm work out.
yes, the older car will require more to maintain it than a newer car, but once you are at a certain point, it is more a maintenance thing than a "repair this, replace that" senario, since you will then have newer components to last long time.
tsn is a good source for info and help with sorting things out and tips for doing repairs yourself. what are you going to be doing with the $11000 left over from selling the miata?
i have two '90 900T's, and other than basic maintenance, haven't had any major issues, a steering rack has just started leaking on one, but other than that nothing untoward, both are relatively low miles, 75k and 116K. so, is it worth it? to me, yes. get an indie shopt to do pre purchase inspection so you will have an idea of what expenses you might be looking at in short term, and then enjoy the car :-) mark
