When the seals get old and leak, and the chamber between the inner & outer seals collects rubber particle gunk, it tends to do things like that.
The piston has 2 seals - an inner one and an outer one. Behind the inner seal, the piston has holes in it it (if you open one up, you'll see what I mean). Sometimes the holes get clogged with old, congealed crud from not being bled regularly and the piston can't return fully. Don't worry, I haven't bled the one on my car properly, either.
Oh, a C/M would be a fun car. But, talk about the "Q" word! Citroen has it in spades.
