hi all,
I've got an 86 non turbo head that is probably in better shape than the head on my 86 SPG. the SPG's followers are noisy and i suspect the valves are more damaged than the non car.
checking the bentley it says that all 16v engine exhaust valves are sodium filled, so NA and turbo are the same.
I also understand that physically the heads from a 86 turbo and an 86 non turbo would be identical, and that the intake cam and followers should be traded if changing from/to each model.
however, Bentley also says on page 214-13 that 'valve and valve seat specifications vary between turbo and non turbo models.'
yet when they illustrate the specs on page 214-14 fig. 29, there is no mention of turbo or non-turbo specs!!!
Does anyone have a factory manual that perhaps contains this information, or can clear up this lack of information?
I want to get a valve job on the non-turbo head, but done to turbo specs.
