But I seem to recall that jumpering gave a constant buzz. I bought the pre-pump first, hoping that was all it needed, & the bees went away. I pulled off the fuel distributor & cleaned that out too. Man, it was gunky. (If you don't have a replacement gasket, be careful removing the old one.) And yes, I was getting what appeared to be full fuel flow at all my check points as well (distributor inlet, pre-pump overflow, main pump in a can of gas by itself).
I was ready to buy a K-Jetronic fuel pressure tester from JC Whitney, but I noticed the new pre-pump flowed a lot more fuel out of the overflow valve than the old one did. Jim at Sobstory told me to check for a collection of shiny flakes of debris in the main pump's pressure can, as that was a good sign the main pump had been compromised by the old pre-pump. Sure enough, there was a good collection of flakes that took three or four swishings to clean out.
