I bought a rusted out 900T three years and 25k miles ago. I replaced the gas filler door, repaired the rusted out driver door bottom, and repaired the rusted out body where the passenger lower a-arm mounts to the body.
There are other rust issues that could be taken care of(mostly hidden rust), but I just drive the car. It has been the most dependable Saab that I have ever owned, and the rust doesn't stop it from starting and driving every time I get in it.
If you want pristine, either get it repaired now(added expense to the purchase), because it will only get worse....or wait to find a rust free car.
My point being> rust hasn't hindered the dependability of my 900. I wouldn't think twice about hopping in it this morning and driving 12 hours east....for Saab related stuff of course.:)
