Lower C/A bushings made easy...

Just finished this and thought I'd share.
I'm rebuilding the entire suspension on my '87 900t conv.
The upper a-arm bushes went in without a problem at all.
I tore two of the lowers trying to press them in. Seems as though they are quite a bit tighter of a fit than the uppers; and kept trying to mushroom out at the point of contact with the bracket.
Here's the deal.
Freeze the bushings; this reduces the size slightly and stiffens them up reducing the tendency to tear. Boil the end bracket; this expands it slightly.
If you look at the bracket; the outside face is almost flush except for the bushing relief, the inside is recessed about 1 and 1/2 inch. If you look closely, you will see the edge radius of the hole you are trying to press the bushing into is slightly larger on the inside, giving a more gradual compression to the bushing lip as it's being pressed.
With the recessed side of the bracket facing up; coat the end and both lips of the bushing liberally with a glycerin based lubricant. Center the bushing on the hole and press it in. You may want to over press it a little bit to make sure the bushing lip extends through and expands properly out the other side. Flip it back over and press it back so the center steel collar is at the correct depth.
Works perfect; all four lower C/A bushes pressed in this way with no tears.
As for the lubricant....Go to the local drugstore and read the back of some of the feminine lubricant products looking for glycerine as a primary component. Sounds funky, but works perfect.
