The master cylinder is easily replaced, and a rebuild kit is available, too. Two bolts and the brake lines. Installation trick is to start brake line threads before you bolt the master in. Then bleed the system.
First, I would try to figure out what is going on. Could be a leak or a bad booster, too.
Any loss of fluid?
Check power brake booster...with engine off, pump pedal many times until hard. Then start engine. Pedal should drop a bit and soften as power boost builds. If slow to get boost, check for vacuum leaks at vacuum hose to booster and grommet.
If OK, try pressing the pedal very gradually. If it drops lower than normal, the master is not sealing correctly. A rebuild kit can fix the problem unless the bore is scored or pitted. If brake fluid has not been flushed regularly, chances are the master has some pitting from moisture.
