I never had to replace the nylon bushing inside the selector shaft seal. Don't really know how you would get it out. Maybe use a sharp pick tool and grab it from the end and pull it out.
The old selector seal can be knocked out by inserting a pry bar into the groove on seal and give a good sharp blow with a hammer.
Be very careful so you don't slip with the pry bar and create a knick or groove in the selector shaft.
One way to protect the shaft is to push it into the transmission as far as possible (selecting 2nd or 4th gear). That way IF the prybar would slip, the damage to shaft would end up to be on the outside area of shaft that doesn't slide back and forth inside the seal.
The new seal can be difficult to push even with the special tool.
What I have used for years is a flat washer that fits perfect onto the shaft and is big enough to cover the metal flange of seal. I also use a Craftsman six sided 5/8" deep socket.
Install the seal onto shaft, than the washer, than the deep socket. Use a big prybar behind socket and find a surface to pry against (wood block between steering rack and prybar).
Since the 5/8" socket fit snug on the shaft it is no chance for it to tilt and drive the seal in sideways.
Don't push the seal in too far, it can damage the nylon bushing and make the shaft stick.
As a comparison, the charge for this job is usually an hour at a Saab shop.
