could be a number of things... Posted by Saabu [Email] (#1133) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Saabu) on Sun, 25 Jul 2004 09:54:23 In Reply to: High idle sometimes, dedreux, Sat, 24 Jul 2004 20:31:37 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
there are some excellent articles in the TSN FAQ and other places about vacuum leaks - check them out below.
Besides AIC valve, it could also be the NTC (Negative Temperature Sensor or aka coolant temp sensor), which plugs in about the center of the intake manifold, into the engine block. When this unit goes, the ECU gets inaccurate readings on engine temp and mistakenly adjusts idle speed.
Its an easy and cheap changeout. it fixed my high idle problem , but it was only say 1,200 rpm max.
these cars have many possible vacuum leaks, wonky valves, etc so you really have to read that comprehensive articles to learn how the whole system works and then go at each part individually.
check these two links to the articles, study them and you will be able to fix lots of current and future problems with your Saab.
