steering noise

I have a 1989 Saab 900 Turbo. I just replaced the tie rod ends and had the alignment done as well. It's kinda funny, but every since I replaced the ends there has been a clunk or kinda a popping noise going on when I turn right. It is a single popping noise. It feels like the the noise is coming from the outside of the car instead of it being inside. It very apparent when the car is parked or stopped, especially with the engine turned off. When I am driving the car it doesn't seem to do that so much if at all. After this poppig noise happens and you let the wheel go back to center and turn right again it doesn't feel quite as bad, but if you turn the steering wheel left and then go back to the right the popping noise happens again. I feel that it may be universal joints on the intermediate shaft or something. What do you all think? Please help me. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
